The Current Situation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled a scheme that will entitle 10 crore families in India with a monthly income of less than Rs 5,000 to receive Rs 6,000 per year.

The scheme, called Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, will be executed by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Rural Development.

The Recent Schemes of the Government

The government has recently announced the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. It is a new scheme that will be launched on 14th April. The scheme is expected to provide an annual income of Rs. 6000 to the farmers of the country. The amount will be deposited in their account directly within 10 days of applying.

The scheme has been launched with an aim to provide support to the farmers who are currently reeling under the pressure of the recent floods in Kerala and Karnataka, and the drought-like conditions in states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.

The Samman Nidhi Yojana is in addition to the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their crops.

Farmers in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim can apply for this scheme.

The scheme also applies to the landless agricultural laborers who have been working for at least 15 days in a month. red more...
